Here is an excellent and rare example of an Ex Army Mk1 Yamaha Grizzly 450 and Logic mk1 (SMT171) trailer delivered under contract to the MOD in 2008. The initial cost was circa £19,000 each for the quad and over £20,000 per trailer to the MOD.
These quads were modified with the following equipment:
- Uprated winch (and remote control)
- Heavy duty tow hitch and mounting plate
- Black-out light control box - to cut out all light during tactical operations
- Fuel filter
- Carlisle ACT HD tyres
- Infra-red lights (front and rear)
- Dual throttle control so you can use the quad left or right handed
- Tan plastics and saddle
This example has very low hours and mileage since disposal from the MOD in 2021 at:
613hrs
2800miles.
The quads have selectable 2/4 wheel drive, and are automatic (just select High, Low or Reverse and drive) utilising Yamaha’s CVT drive system. They also have full diff-lock. These are highly practical vehicles, relied on as a work horse in the toughest of conditions (note Op HERRICK in Afghanistan).
The quad has been serviced and comes with a 3 month warranty and is road registered, providing several options on how it can be used (please message me to discuss).
The trailer is a rare example of a SMT171 (built by logic in the UK), designed to carry 1 stretched and ammunition / rations and equipment (upto 500kg) to support Operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The trailers are complete with a lockable overrun brake system. A later upgrade program added a steel rear door, the capacity for 2 stretchers, Gap crossing ramps brackets and the relocation of the spare wheel. These became the SMT172B trailers. I’ve only seen 3 of the unmodified SMT171 variants in the last 8 years as all but a few were caputured in the upgrade program.
Comes with 2 keys and the V5. A tracker can be fitted at the buyers expense.
Delivery is possible. The quad and trailer are located near Stonehenge, Wiltshire.
